I am currently at Duke Medical Center to pick up my mom, who is winning the fight against breast cancer! She is 62 years old and was diagnosed with XXX Breast Cancer in April 2009. She was fortunate to catch it early. This is one of the deadliest types. She had no lymph node involvement and no spread. She underwent 4 rounds of chemo this past summer, then had a mastectomy 3 weeks ago. She is now getting "insurance" chemo to make sure that in case one little cell escaped, it will be zapped. They consider her cured at this point! She will receive 3 more rounds of chemo over the next 3 months, then she's finished with this nightmare. My sister is a nurse at Duke, so she takes care of getting the right doctors and meds and I take care of my mom and dad when she gets home. I live in the same town as they do, so it works well for us
I have Systemic Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Insulin Dependent Diabetes, so my health isn't the best in the world. I haven't worked for about 10 years, but am now looking for a part-time job. Maybe 6 to 8 hrs a week. Just for a little extra money. I wish I could find something to do from home.
I would love to connect with anyone going through anything similar to me!
We're getting the car packed and heading home now. It's about 2 hrs away.
